Dave Chisnall received his second Gamers Championship title of the 12 months after beating Chris Dobey within the PC23 remaining in Leicester on Wednesday.
Chisnall beat Dobey 8-4 within the remaining, his opponent failing to match the requirements he set within the semi-final when throwing a nine-darter.
Dobey’s 7-2 last-four win over Martin Schindler noticed him hit a nine-dart end within the opening leg of a scintillating show which noticed him put up his fifth ton-plus common of the match.
It was the second excellent leg of the day, following Adam Warner’s nine-darter in his second-round defeat to Jurjen van der Velde.
Darting massive hitters Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith didn’t enter the match, whereas world No 1 Luke Humphries was knocked out by Mervyn King within the final 16.
“The final was a tough battle, it wasn’t a good game but I’m just happy to get over the line,” mentioned Chisnall, whose £15,000 prize sees him regain his place as world No 5.
“I believe my sport is up there with the perfect on this planet for the time being; I am taking part in rather well and my confidence is excessive.
“There are some big events coming up and I normally have a good end to the year; I just need to get my TV form going now.
“I am trying ahead to the World Grand Prix; I have been hitting my doubles properly so it must be a superb one for me.”
