Tyson Fury can defeat Oleksandr Usyk of their December rematch after the “hard lesson” of their first battle, says High Rank president Todd DuBoef.
Fury fought Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk in an impressive undisputed heavyweight world title battle earlier this 12 months, shedding by break up resolution.
They’re set to battle once more in Riyadh on December 21 and DuBoef of High Rank, Fury’s co-promoter, believes the Briton can achieve revenge within the rematch.
Not that he is assured in that final result.
“I was confident halfway through the fight he was going to destroy him [Usyk]. I was sitting there going what a one-sided fight this has become and then he let him off the hook. That’s what I thought,” DuBoef advised Sky Sports activities.
“[Fury] began off somewhat gradual however then simply bought into his rhythm and I assumed it was a whitewash. Then bought hit with that one left hand, [which] bought the attention and the nostril. I believe he bought caught proper then and struggled.
“I don’t have confidence in anything. I thought I was seeing this thing that was amazing.”
DuBoef thinks Fury will win “if he stays focused. If he doesn’t play around”.
“In those middle rounds it felt like he was just teeing off on him and I think he just got a little lackadaisical and confident,” DuBoef mentioned.
“I think he learned a lesson and it was a hard lesson. But I also believe the other guy’s going to be better this time, because he has more confidence.
“I believe his character the best way he [Fury] is within the ring, is simply his character. However I believe he will not take issues with no consideration and I believe realized a tough lesson.”
Fury and his battle with Usyk can be on the centre of a brand new documentary collection, ‘The Combat Life,’ that chronicles High Rank boxing via the 12 months.
Frank Warren, who additionally co-promotes Fury, believes the Briton can bounce again from his loss to Usyk, a primary skilled profession defeat for Fury.
“He’s quite philosophical. He felt he won the fight. I thought he just nicked it, but it was a close fight. “He’s got to go out and, what he did in that first half of the fight, he’s got to carry that through.
“I assumed he genuinely was going to cease [Usyk]. That nice shot, you would see it, he wobbled again. He is recreation and did what he needed to do.
“I just feel Tyson, he’s a smart guy, he knows what he’s got to do.”
