WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden canceled an upcoming journey to Italy because of the wildfires in California, the White Home stated on Wednesday, including that he wished to give attention to directing the total federal response to the fires.
The White Home introduced in December that Biden would go to Italy from Jan. 9-12 to satisfy Pope Francis, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“After returning this evening from Los Angeles, where earlier today he had met with police, fire and emergency personnel fighting the historic fires raging in the area and approved a Major Disaster declaration for California, President Biden made the decision to cancel his upcoming trip to Italy to remain focused on directing the full federal response in the days ahead,” the White Home stated in an announcement.
The raging wildfires surrounding Los Angeles unfold to the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday, after 5 different fires within the space killed a minimum of 5 folks, destroyed tons of of houses and stretched firefighting sources and water provides to the restrict.
